The Power of Discussing Professional Mistakes

-How Failure Shapes Better Leaders

What if I told you that failure could make you a better leader? That mistakes—big, small, and utterly embarrassing—are actually one of the best tools for professional growth?

For years, we’ve been conditioned to view failure as something to avoid at all costs. But the truth is, the best leaders, creatives, and business professionals don’t succeed in spite of their mistakes—they succeed because of them.

When we acknowledge and share our professional missteps, we create a culture of honesty, humility, and resilience. It opens the door for growth, allowing us to refine our skills and become better at what we do.

One of the greatest dangers in any career is believing you’ve reached the top of your field. The moment you think you’ve mastered it all, you risk becoming complacent. The world keeps moving, industries evolve, and new talent emerges. Staying sharp means staying open—to feedback, to challenges, and yes, even to the occasional faceplant (sometimes quite literally).

In this series, I’ll be sharing some of my own professional stumbles—stories that made me laugh, cringe, and, ultimately, become a better voice actor.

First up: That one time I thought I was crushing it… and the universe promptly put me in my place.

Stay tuned.

Peace,

~Bailee
